KHPT are pleased to be partnering with their friends at Action Outdoors to offer an option of 2 fantastic weeks of off piste adventure skiing in Japan for this coming season.
This is a guided off piste and ski touring adventure for advanced/expert level off piste skiers/boarders with touring experience. Led by a highly qualified ski instructor and high mountain guide, you will have the opportunity to explore this remote and iconic skiing destination and fully experience the very best Japan has to offer.
Hokkaido is the northernmost of Japan’s main islands, famous for volcanoes, natural hot springs and vast backcountry ski terrain, not surprisingly it’s referred to locally as ‘the last frontier’. The peninsula of Hokkaido is a ski tourers’ dream. Its remoteness makes travel here more challenging, however, the sheer beauty of the area and of course the famous deep Japanese powder snow makes it more than worth the journey!
The 2 trips will comprise of 7 days skiing, 5 days using lifts to experience ‘Japow’ Japan’s famously deep, dry and light powder snow and 2 days ski touring, hiking to find the best conditions and most rewarding descents. Weather and snow conditions heavily impact a trip like this therefore the key here is flexibility. The itinerary and proportions of lift accessed/ski touring skiing can be adapted and altered at any time to best suit the current conditions and make the very most of the time in Japan.
Itinerary for the trip (may change due to weather & snow conditions):
