Scott of the Antartic...

I met Scott on my 2006 trip. I signed up for a multi day package with him. There were four of us on the course, myself and three snowboarders, all backcountry novices. My first impressions of Scott were of a cross between The Terminator, due to his unending energy and ability to keep going, and his name sake, Scott of the Antartic, due to his explorer nature.

After some transceiver training and instruction about avalanche procedures, we moved into the backcountry and proceeded to ski the best terrain I had ever been in. We hiked and skinned at a steady pace throughout the day, and skied powder wherever we went...

Since then I've continued to ski with Scott and train with him, averaging about 50 days a season in the backcountry.

His approach to what he does is always the same..safe, calm, professional...and fun.

Given the choice I wouldn't want to be guided by anybody else.

...and by the way, he has been to the Antartic.
