RICHARDS' STORY
Having skied in and around Europe for 30 years and in Canada for the past decade, Richard Barker wasn't expecting to hang his hat in a resort only heard of in passing, but the day he arrived in Kicking Horse changed his life.
In 2006 Richard went on holiday with friends to Kicking Horse for a two week trip and hasn’t stopped going back.
In 2008 he bought an apartment in the resort and since 2009 has spent the winter seasons there. In the winter of 2008 he trained as a Level 2 CSIA Ski Instructor and qualified in 2010 as a BASI Level 2 Ski Instructor. He spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons skiing with Adrenalin Descents, in around the Kicking Horse country area.
He is now working towards Level 3 CSIA Ski Instructor exams.

Richard Barker
Such was his love of the area and the mountain he has gone on to create Kicking Horse Powder Tours – a small independent company based in Bristol in the UK in the summer and in the winter run out of Kicking Horse. Through this company and his contacts on the ground he seeks to bring together the perfect experience.
"My aim with Kicking Horse Powder Tours is simple – I want people to have the same experience that I had: unique, bespoke and spectacular. I work only with the best of the best in the area and coming from three decades of skiing across the world, I hope I know what that means!
As for the place, you just can't explain it until you get here. People know BC and Golden as being special, but, even for the well-versed skier, getting to know the Kicking Horse Country area is likely to change your life just like it did mine."
